679 Kilometres

That’s approximately how far I have run since I began training in February. And taking into consideration there were days I didn’t bring my phone with me or forgot to start my watch until halfway through my run, 679km is the minimum.

That’s like running from my house in Calgary to Penticton B.C. via the Trans-Canada Highway, or to Spokane, WA or to Meadow Lake, SK.

I love tracking my running stats, but it’s kind of overwhelming to think about.

When I began preparing to start the UofC program I was tracking my runs with the Nike + iPod running app that tracked my runs through a chip in my shoe. From February 15, 2015 to March 7, 2015 I ran 21.81km.

When I got new shoes and couldn’t use the chip in my shoe anymore I began using the Nike Running app which tracks your runs by GPS. Using that app I ran 160.3km between March 25 and August 1.

Eventually I purchased my Garmin running watch, which also tracks distance through GPS.  From the beginning of June until today I have logged 497km, 58 hours and more than 3,000m of elevation gain in 51 runs, while wearing my watch.

On Sunday I will be adding another 42.2 to that!
