It’s not all running and sweating with the UofC Marathon Training squad. We also take plenty of care to stop and have fun. Here’s what I’ve been up to over the last few months when not out on the trails.

Most Saturday’s after our run, we head to the nearest local cafe for coffee or breakfast. I have come to love this Saturday morning down-time. Usually we have finished our run and are sitting down for a hot coffee before I would have even gotten out of bed if I had stayed home (I am not a morning person). It certainly makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something that day, and before 10 a.m. at that.

Kirsten and I decided to take on Stampede one day. Here we are eating away our training progress…stampedeSeveral of the awesome alumni members on the team put on a tailgate barbecue for everyone after our first three hour run. Knowing there were burgers and hot dogs waiting for me in the parking lot when I finished my run was a huge motivating factor. It was probably the only reason I finished that run actually…Tailgate3

Have I mentioned we do pub nights? The only thing better that a burger waiting for you after your run is a beer. Amiright?

pub2But even if there isn’t beer, there is always coffee. Here we are at Annie’s Cafe at Fish Creek Park after our run this past Saturday. It was such a cute spot, I will definitely be going back! And yes, that is me, making the super weird face … that’s embarrassing.fishcreek
